:::: Oh, the joys of shooting weddings in the Milwaukee area! One weekend we're in a former factory on the shores of Lake Michigan. The next weekend we're just forty-five minutes away, but a world apart, at a recently reclaimed family farm outside of Oconomowoc.
Husbandry is "the act or practice of cultivating crops and breeding and raising livestock; agriculture." Paul and Laura are not full-time farmers, but they have worked minor miracles on the land they've reclaimed and renewed. They're raising up pigs, turkeys, chickens, bees, and goats. Their gardens and fields are thriving, and so are they. You can tell that their connection to one another is strengthened by their connection to the land, and it's a beautiful thing to behold.
Paul is also the proprietor of Oakbrook Esser Stained Glass Studios in downtown O-Town, and you'll see examples of his work all over the farm (and in the pictures below) alongside unique sculpture work from Dr. Evermore and others.
We feel so fortunate that they chose us to capture a day of the life they're creating together, and hope their compassion and creativity come through in the pictures as it does when you spend time with them.
